A NIGERIAN youthful woman, Edna Joseph has gone viral after revealing she has officially being divorced by her United Kingdom – UK husband after a short journey of abuse.
Edna shares that, she moved to the UK because of her now ex-husband despite marrying him before she met any of his family members. She says she made sure he met nearly everyone from her family, with the hope that he would do the same.
“Why my marriage hit the rock bottom, it was a long journey throughout last year, 2024, but I’m glad I survived it and on my feet now, trying to build life from the scratch again,” Edna shares adding that, “I don’t care what people think or will say, the most important thing is that I have survived it.”
She says after they broke up, the ex-husband tried to get, “…the monkey after the damage he has caused. I wish him all the best of luck. I have cried, grieved, healed and still healing.
When I thought I married a soulmate. Moved to the UK because of him. Two months after moving here, he punched me several times on my face, strangled my neck, I thought I was going to die.”
According to a narration made available to TV Yatu, Edna was called all sorts of names.
“Names like b*tch, f*cking an*mal, f*t, Nigerian sc*mmer became my new name. Heaven knows I am not a nagging woman, I tried my best to make it work. [I made] apologies even if it wasn’t my fault.
He met all my family but I never met his family. Telling me my hands looks like a m*nkey. I’m too dark, his children are smarter than me and I’m so dumb with no brain, was the new anthem in the house. Slapped me again after a few months. And I lost my dad during this period, still grieving,” Edna painfully shares.
The youthful Nigerian is calling on fellow African women in such abusive relationships to open up and save those aspiring to embark on such a journey in the name of love.
“I lost myself. I had to move out and he filed for divorce after two weeks of me moving out. He told me, ‘when you move out, you’ll be homeless. I got money to take care of myself but you don’t,” she says she is doing a part time job, and is certain of pulling through it.
“I made my best decision, I’m more happier and better now. Physical, emotional, psychological, any type of abuse is non negotiable for me. I will never live with an abusive partner. I posted this because of people who keep asking me about my husband. Officially divorced, new beginning for me,” Edna has shared.
